Sand Art Fun!
We did some sand art with friends the other day. Isabelle absolutely LOVED it, although it is messy with toddlers, but they enjoyed the scooping of the salt in the jars--kept them very busy!!

Spring Craft
We made spring trees yesterday. Last fall we made fall trees that were lots of fun, and I thought the spring trees looked even prettier. Here's how our Monday morning went:

To get the great effect for the tree, you are supposed to blow the paint up your paper with a straw.
I skipped this step with Melina and just gave her the paintbrush.

Pictures from the day I called Poison Control
On such a beautiful fall afternoon, we admired the tree in our front yard, showing some fall colors that are rare in Ridgecrest because of our frequent winds. We had had some extraordinary weather though in that we hadn't had much wind, and therefore, the leaves stayed on the trees.

Here is what I was helping Isabelle with when Melina was innocently behind me eating honeysuckle berries...

No berries on her face or shirt--she hadn't made her way over there quite yet!
After the drama was over, Isabelle painted the snowmen (notice it is already dark outside!).

Happy First Day of Fall! Craft and Dessert!!
To celebrate the first day of fall, we painted a fall picture that I found on this blog. It looked like fun, so I did my own too! It was quite easy and very minimal!

Here are our finished paintings:

I also found this recipe from one of my favorite blogs yesterday and then happened to receive a forwarded email today with the same recipe. Guess it's making its rounds! We just had to try this 5-minute chocolate mug cake!

It was very quick and delicious too!
I'm in trouble now. The author of this blog states how "dangerous" this cake can be, and it's so true! You know those moments when it's a couple hours after dinner and you're rifling through the cupboards looking for some brownie mix or some type of rich chocolate? Well, here's the answer: 5-minute chocolate mug cake! Usually always ingredients you have on hand, so you're set!

4th of July cookies
We're a little late for the 4th of July, but since we had this great flag cookie cutter, decided we just couldn't pass it up. We did learn something about coloring icing, however, and in order to get the deep red and blue colors we were after for our flag cookies, next time we'll use Wilton's icing (thanks for that tip, Traccee) instead of using food coloring (I used the whole bottle of red and still only got a dark salmon color). Nevertheless, Isabelle and I enjoyed our cookie decorating while Melina slept for part of it...

Weekly Crafts
Isabelle made a flower, again from our favorite blog, and the next day made this paper plate collage:
